Chantalle Fortin & Gold Mining Frenchman “Frenchie”

In 2019 I purchased a young horse as broke and needing more miles, but ended up with a three year old with severe bolting issues. After several rides with absolutely no brakes, I was terrified to swing a leg over him. It was a dangerous situation and I knew Betsy would handle it in the safest way for all of us.

The thing about Betsy, is that she doesn’t just train them and send them back to you. She ensures that you are included in the whole process so that you can properly communicate with and handle your horse when they go back home. She built our confidence together and helped me create a real relationship with my horse that is even more solid as time goes on.

In just four months, Betsy turned my anxious, hard to handle gelding into a fun, safe partner that I look forward to working with every day. Frenchie is the most well adjusted, balanced 5 year old I’ve ever ridden and his self-regulation is phenomenal. Instead of going blank and bolting when he is nervous, you can literally see him stop take a breath and readdress the situation before I even have a chance to help him. I have no doubt that that is because of Betsy’s attitude, and dedication to him!

Sending a horse to her means a holistic experience for both of you! My horses diet, physical and mental health, as well as limitations were all carefully considered and prioritized. There were ZERO negative experiences for him. It was all positive, constructive learning experiences that I was proud to witness and hear about through frequent updates. Its always horse first and the respect she gives to each animal is outstanding. I didn’t worry about Frenchie for a minute while he was away.

In sending my horse to Betsy, I was led down a completely different path as a horsewoman, and there is no way for me to ever thank her enough. I am so proud to consider Betsy my mentor in horsemanship as well as life. She truly is a phenomenal person and any horse is lucky to have her help!
